Volunteer Vacancy: Reader/Writer

A Reader/Writer has an important job at Te Aratai College. Your assistance makes a big difference to students’ confidence and ability to show what they know and can do. 

Purpose

The aim of the Reader/Writer is to assist a candidate to overcome any learning difficulties they may have during an assessment activity for both internal and external examinations, and for practice assessments.

You may be reading the activity brief or questions for a candidate, or writing, or reading and writing for a candidate.

Training is provided for this voluntary role. 

Please be advised that potential Reader/Writers will be required to:

  • Sign a Police Vetting consent form. Collect a physical copy from Te Aratai College, or request a copy by emailing ed@tearatai.school.nz, or download from the NZ Police website

  • Bring two forms of ID in accordance with the Police Vetting guide to Te Aratai College to be sighted and photocopied. The most common forms of ID are Passport and NZ Driver Licence. 

  • Provide the name and contact details for at least one referee to complete a Safety Check required under the Children’s Act 2014.
