Technology Teacher

Thank you for your interest in this permanent, full-time position of Technology teacher at Te Aratai College Technology Centre. The position starts on 28 January 2025.

This is a unique opportunity for a Technology teacher to develop their own engaging course, with a strong digital element.

With our current Robotics teacher moving out of Christchurch, we are looking to appoint someone to develop and teach a new course with a strong Digital Technologies emphasis. This could integrate mechatronics, robotics, or another technology area. We are open to a different course being developed, however there must be a strong digital element that incorporates design thinking, designing and developing digital outcomes and computational thinking. The ideal candidate will passionate about creating innovative learning experiences and developing digital creators. They will also have a strong understanding of the technology curriculum, and be proficient in relevant technology tools and software. We are open to tailoring the program to the specific skill sand interests of the successful applicant. This may include incorporating 3D printing and laser cutting to foster digital creativity and innovation. Strong learning relationships are key at the Technology Centre, as we only have one term to build and foster a love of learning in our specialist subject.

Our Technology Centre is off site at 180 Avonside Drive, but we are part of the wider Te Aratai College on Aldwins Road (previously Linwood College). We us 1,500 year 7 and 8 students in from 23 different schools for their technology learning each week. They spend 1.5 hours with us, undertaking learning in Hard Materials, Product Design, Food, Fabrics, Makerspace, Robotics and Digital Technologies. Students change to a new technology at the beginning of each term.
